We understand that you may have some questions regrading this type of adult day service.  With so many options to choose from, it can seem overwhelming. We have gathered answers to some of our frequently asked questions about Diverse Active Living. If you have any additional questions, please get in touch! 

  • What is a adult day service?  We provide a comfortable safe space for adults to attend and enjoy socialisation, interaction and activities throughout the day with care and compassion. 
  • Who is eligible to attend? Anyone of the age 18 years and above
  • How do I know if Diverse Active Living is for me?  We understand it can be difficult when choosing the right day service that suits your needs and interests. We offer all new clients the opportunity of a FREE TRIAL DAY. This will support you with your decision without any upfront commitment.

  • How is Diverse Active Living different from other day services? We encourage Independence, interaction with others, balanced diets and exercise. We promote our clients to be as independent for as long as possible. We are not your average day service. We are active, engaging and fun! 

  • Do you support people with Dementia? Yes - our support teams have had extensive training in supporting individuals with all types of Dementia. This includes Dementia awareness training, challenging behavior , and safeguarding adults

  • I have limited mobility, how will you support me? We have the facilities to support individuals with limited or no mobility. We have a wheel chair adapted building, all on ground level with mobility aids in place to support with personal care. 

  • Can I change my days at short notice? We understand routine can change and things can happen. We are happy to move days around to suit your needs. Subject to numbers this can be done at short notice. 

  • Can I add more/ less days at short notice? Yes - We understand the severity of peoples lifestyles can be complex and routine can change quickly. 

  • Is there any transport available? We have our own 16 seater, wheelchair adapted minibus. Our transport manager has completed his Minibus Driver Awareness training so you can be rest assured that you are in safe hands. 

  • Will I have a regular pick up/ drop off time? We try to cater for everyone's individual preferred time of collection. Our transport manager will be able to advise you of a estimated 5-10 minute window for collection. Please bear in mind depending on traffic, or delays from a previous address this can sometimes have a knock on effect for others. We kindly ask that you be ready with your belongings for the day at your estimated time slot for collection. This will help save time. If you would prefer, you are welcome to make your own way to the day service from 10am

  • What types of activities are planned at the day service? Physical activities such as cricket, football, and gentle exercises.  Therapeutic activities such as baking, flower arranging, group quizzes, and beauty therapy including hand and foot care, and facials.  We also plan trips out. Recently we have been to Blackpool for fish and chips and to see the lights.  

  • Do you need be be referred for this service? No. We welcome anyone who feels they would benefit from coming to our day service. Please use our contact page to reach us to for more information.
  • Do you provide emergency respite day service? Yes - We understand how pressured families lives may be and can offer  emergency in respite in these cases

  • Are meals provided? We can provide a healthy balanced lunch at a extra cost of £3.00. This can consist of a jacket potato with filling and salad, sandwiches with various fillings and salad, various soups all with a pudding of choice. On Fridays we have a chip shop lunch. This is charged at the chip shop rate and can vary depending on choice of options. Alternatively, you can provide your own lunch if you'd prefer. 

  • What if I need to stay in hospital/ take a holiday? A retainer fee will be applied to your account initially for 6 weeks. After this time, dependent on your circumstances, this will be reviewed and discussed further.

  • Are you regulated by a governing body?  No. All Adult day services are exempt from registration. Under section 3: Activities that are covered by registration, Scope 19-21, under The Registration under the Health and Social Care Act 2008, March 2015.
