Our support team
Diverse Active Living Day Service opened in January 2016 with Mother and son, Alison and Scott.
The company was created through personal experiences and a want to make a difference to Adult Day Services. Everyone over the age of 16 years that works or volunteers with us are asked to complete a full DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) along with references to support their application.
Alison - Manchester Day Service Manager
Alison has worked within Adult Social Care for over 30 years, including working for local authority on various teams including Mental Health which support individuals within their communities with challenging behavior, paranoid schizophrenia, OCD, personality disorders and disability. Alison's extensive range of experience and knowledge within these areas has allowed her to build up professional relationships with multiple agencies involved within a persons care. It was during this time Alison realised the sheer lack of affordable, and good standard, adult day services within the communities that can support individuals with complex needs sufficiently.
Alison recognised how some day services can seem repetitive and lack stimulation and engagement.
Scott - Operational Manager
Coming together with Scott who has business operational management experience, they founded Diverse Active Living Day Service in Manchester. Since this time they have grown a reputable name and grown the business together
Sophie - Trafford Day Service Manager
Sophie has worked within Adult social care for over 12 years and has experience working with challenging behaviour, mental illness and physical disabilities. Having gained various qualifications, Sophie has a better understanding of how stressful life can seem when caring for someone with complex needs on limited financial and emotional support. Having gained experience working alongside Greater Manchester Police and Greater Manchester Combined Authority, Sophie can offer support and
advice within areas of financial and home support.
At Diverse Active Living we are fortunate that we can offer you free transport during your time with us. Our 16 seater mini bus can escort you to, and from your home address at no extra charge. Our transport manager, Ron will be able to advise you in this area. Ron is also a member of the family and has been with Diverse Active Living from January 2016. Ron has previous experience working for Ring and Ride covering all areas of Trafford and Greater Manchester. Having gained his Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme training, you can be rest assured that your safety and comfort is our top priority during your time on our transport.
Our Support Team
Our team of support workers are dedicated to their roles and thoroughly enjoy their time spent with our clients at the centres. All of our staff are fully trained to a high standard and are DBS checked with references before starting their roles. We are always looking for new ideas to bring to the centre and this is something our support workers do with ease. Being involve in creating someone's support plan and adding value to their experience is very rewarding.
When we recruit new team members, we are looking for someone that showcases empathy, patience and above all a caring nature. We make certain that the support teams we create, are that of a same nature we would expect for our own loved ones.
As well as our support team in house, we are in regular contact with local universities and colleges for volunteering opportunities for individuals looking to gain some real life experience working alongside you. Our volunteers are DBS checked with references before meeting our centres.
Volunteers bring new ideas and a new sense of joy when volunteering. We pride ourselves on the variety of individuals we have met over our years working at Diverse Active Living Day Service.
